LAKIP - Eco Park
Backpacking from Cebu to Leyte
On this tour we leave the turbulent island of Cebu and take the ferry to the island of Leyte. Leyte belongs to the Eastern Visayas, is largely untouched by tourists and a real insider tip for nature lovers and backpackers looking for peace and relaxation. A high mountain range runs through the predominantly agricultural island. Leyte is more rural and provincial than Cebu. The language is also different - the people speak Waray.
On Leyte, near the town of Ormoc we have booked Bahay Kubos for you on a mountain. Bahay Kubos are Filipino huts made of bamboo in which you can spend the night very authentically. If you want to be even closer to nature, tents are also available.
During the day you can hike through the park, which was built for local tourists who like to spend their weekends in the mountains. The park is constantly changing and expanding with small events.
There is a narrow hiking trail that leads to the top of the mountain, from which you have a wonderful view over Ormoc. On countless hiking trails you always have the chance to observe the local animals.
Back in the park you can rest in the garden and enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner with a great view over the rice fields. The food is locally sourced and organically grown by the farmers.
Are the temperatures rising? Cool off in the mini pool with a cold San Miguel or cocktail in your hand.
In the evening, relax around the campfire and gaze up at the night sky. Many incredible sounds can be heard from the mountains and if you are lucky, you may even see fireflies!
